Getting your first ozark
Getting ships in Starscape is hard. That’s why we mine for resources in order to craft bigger and better ships, thus allowing us to craft more ships. The Ozark Line are the most efficient and fastest mining ships in the game. They’re also one of the only 2 ship lines that can effectively utilize mining turrets (the other being the Eos Line), which is why it is crucial to get an Ozark in order to progress further into the game.
First step honey badger
To obtain an Ozark, you first need a Honey Badger, which can be obtained using around 5K credits on the player market. You could also mine for some of the resources needed to craft a Badger, and then buy the rest of the resources on the player market which would probably be much cheaper than buying it outright.

Getting materials for your ozark
Now for the next step, you will need 2,800 Korrellite and 1,650 Reknite. This can easily be obtained by looking for planet aberrations. You can mine these with your Honey Badger. These can also contain Superior Ore, which will give you 3 ore when refined, and Normal Ore, which will give you 2 instead of the usual 1 you get from inferior ore. Since you can do this all in Secure, you can mine without the risk of getting attacked by pirates (player).
You will also need 900 Gellium and 300 Axnit. This is most commonly found in Unsecure and Contested. Now, you can go 2 routes here.
Contested
Contested Systems have faction fleets to protect you from pirates (if in the respective faction’s military), and warp disruption is disabled here. If you’re in a stronghold and there’s already a mining platform constructed, you can probably mine all of your Gellium and Axnit here. You can also acquire the Superior and sometimes Pristine variants of the ore, and you also may have a chance to find Narcor, but it’s unlikely.
Unsecure
The other route is Unsecure Anomalies/Aberrations. These will most likely contain a plethora of ore, which will probably likely contain some Gellium, although not all of them will contain Axnit. This is the slower, hazardous route to go through because warp disruption is enabled here, and you don’t have a guaranteed chance to get Gellium and Axnit on the 1st try. Most pilots forgo this route in favor of Wild or Contested mining, due to the risk of pirates and relatively dangerous conditions in comparison.
Getting narcor
Now, if you have all of the Gellium and Axnit, the last step is to acquire some Narcor. You can either buy it from the player market, which will only cost you ~4K credits, or you could go Wild mining.
The main risk with Wild mining is that CoreSec doesn’t actively service these systems, which means that if you die to an NPC or a player, you will permanently lose your ship, and you will be forced to buy/craft a new one. So, if you choose this route, be extremely cautious about how you go about mining. However, if you’re smart, you can simply avoid both of those threats. NPCs will only attack you after 8 seconds of being in a warp point (or when attacked), and players are few and far between once you’re out in the midst of wild space.
With the warnings out of the way, you can start mining. Now, the best way to find Narcor is to start searching for aberrations or anomalies. Finding an AT or an AL in Wild space will almost always include Narcor. Also, you can find entire Narcor deposits on ringed planets, although they are slightly rarer than AT or ALs. If you’re extremely lucky and find an AN, you will have both Red Narcor and Narcor, which will be useful later on. If you find one, you won’t need to find more Narcor for your Ozark, because most ANs have over 200+ Narcor and 100+ Red Narcor. Once you have all of your materials, head back to a system with a manufacturing plant. Now you can craft your Ozark! The crafting time for an Ozark is 1 hour, so during that time you can sort your inventory from your mining journey, or you can get started on your next goal, whatever that may be.
Once your Ozark is finished crafting, you can collect it from the Manufacturing module and enjoy!
